The 2017 Toyota Prius is the fourth generation of this iconic hybrid. It has come to be closely associated with the environmentally-conscious of those among us, if not the style leaders. This 2017 Prius, however, has a distinctive new futuristic look that downplays the lithium-ion battery by placing it below the back seat rather than in the trunk, explains Tom Voelk, auto critic for The New York Times, in a new review.
The new Prius Eco model has an EPA-rated fuel economy rating of 58 city, 54 highway. The Prius does hybridy kinds of things. Coasting and braking charges the battery, and the gas engine shuts down at stoplights. Typically, the car initially pulls away on electric power before the gas engine smoothly feathers in. The EV Mode allows all-electric travel at low speeds for short distances. Using gauges on the improved LCD screen, drivers can track their fuel efficiency as they go along.
